In response to Yarsene Wenger's comments, Rafarrell Benitez has offered to play a game of "guess who?".
So, who doesn't like to head the ball and doesn't wear a turban?

BANGBROS.

X-S manager Yarsene Wenger has decided to join Bang Bros and bang the table, demanding standards from the team. He senses passion and commitment missing from the team, especially without The MP, Woo Wee Becks. Becks was easily the most passionate X-S player to have ever worn the shirt. His passion has led to him being beaten in the Deyi Street Soccer court and many other countless near-misses. Without him around, the fire is lacking. Everyone is out there playing masak-masak instead of football. Excuses such as "I don't like heading the ball la" from someone (don't say who la but he don't wear turban) shall no longer be accepted. If noone is gonna stand up and call the rest to wake up their ideas, then we cannot call ourselves a team.

We shall start by booking our first reservist IPPT together and train for our 400 bucks as one united force. That money shall come in handy for a much-deserved holiday. Let's go guys, before age catches up on us.

MaShaunrano has issued an official apology to the club for Improper Conduct. He tried arranging a match but to no avail. Rumour has it the opposing team backed out cos they found it insulting to play against a team that lost 10-0 to ESFC. However, we could not confirm it.

Yarsene Wenger has vowed to get the club to compete at the next level. Anyone who is not committed enough can leave. He believes there is a lack of belief in this bunch of talented players who constantly falter cos they never think they're good enough.

Our new motto shall be, "Trash talk, and believe the trash you said." Therefore we shall shine.

Technical Director Rafarrell Benitez has slammed manager Derek O'Leary and Ronalidinho after the recent on-the-pitch spat. The pair was spotted arguing just before the game over Ronalidinho's autobiography and what shouldn't have been in it. " It was disappointing. The players were all psyched up and warming up before the match when such a thing has to happen. It dampened the morale of the players which ultimately led to the team's 2-1 defeat. Definitely, they will be punished. I will speak to the directors and recommend that both of them be sent to the dentist together, which will promote good relations between them and to give them a happier smile. It will be Ronalidinho's 2nd visit to the dentist and if he doesn't curb his temper, he'll be forced to put on braces."

On sunday's game, Benitez only had this to say, "we missed our captain". O'Leary shared his sentiments when interviewed by the press, " The midfield partnership between Mashaunrano and Takeshi Nakata looked promising, with both players putting in a soild performance. However, we lacked the spirit and the drive the captain brings to the team. On a more spiritual note, the yin and yang balance of the team today was in chaos as the team fielded was almost 3/4 yellow, coupled with the yellow jerseys, it pushed the yin force to dangerous levels. We really needed our captain to restore the yang balance. We could have done with Bacanury Sagna in the side, but he was involved in roadworks the previous night. " If O'Leary and all his spiritual talk is true, the fans all look forward to the day we have Fabreyaz and Beckham Woo in centre of midfield. The yin and yang will be at such a level and force matched by no other sunday soccer side.

An extract from Ronalidhinho's soon-to-be-released autobiography titled My Dream, has been deemed as offensive and distasteful by some. X-SFC.com, the club's unofficial fansite, was told that Ronalidinho had been called to the manager's office to discuss about his book as well as his future with the club.

When asked for comments, the player said, "Well. Im not retracting what i said. What i wrote wasnt meant as an insult to any party in particular. Team keeper Weiliang has been giving his best to the team despite work commitments. All im saying is what about the days he's not around? Team manager Derek O'leary was fantastic last weekend but im sure he's not our No.2 keeper. The club is in the transition phase: from sunday kicking the ball around for fun to one that is winning."

As to being left on the bench and playing as a substitute for 20 or so minutes, he's happy to say that it only means that the team is getting stronger and the only way to get in is to buck up.

He also added, "I'm not one who insult. Being insulted, yes. However, criticism is another thing altogether. Without criticism from fellow players, past and present, i wouldnt be playing the way i am today."

The rumours i hear of a possible takeover is good for a club who aspires to compete in a level higher than the one it is in right now.

The entire Ang Mo Kio community would have known by now that the team needs a safe pair of hands between the post. I was thinking.... if i was a keeper, would i want to pay to just stand between the post for 90 minutes, making a couple of spectacular saves once in a while? The defence have been superb this past couple of games.

Would it be feasible to propose for the goalkeeper to pay lesser, or not at all, than outfield players? Perhaps if this proposal is approved, it would attract more potential national goalkeepers to join and bolster the team's defence. And make competing in a league, and even doing well in it, a highly likely possibility.

The idea of competing in a league would definitely make players up their game, both fitness wise and skills wise. Players, especially Ronalidinho who dreams of playing left, right, centre in the midfield area, would simply have to improve their game with curently injured pair Woo W M and Dan T looking set to pack the crowded midfield which boasts the likes of AhLong, Booninho, Shawn Kok, Ilhan Manqif, Fabreyaz, Bhai, Takeshi.

All in all, the team filled with committed and not so commited players seem to be in great shape. A safe pair of hands at the back coupled with better finishes by attackers and communication between players will make every weekend something to look forward to.

So who's our keeper tomorrow?

Managers Mastermind Convincing 1-0 Victory

Yarsene Wenger, Rafarell Benitez and Derek O'Leary combined forces to lead X-S to a brilliant win over the Purple Hippos Football Hooligans Football Club (PHFHFC). X-S dominated throughout and was barely troubled despite all the pre-match hype. The tie was settled by skipper Fabreyas' howitzer from 20 yards out just minutes before the break, leaving PHFHFC's goalkeeper in no-man's land. The win coincided with the launch of the new all-yellow X-S FC strip and presence of Asst Manager, Nani.

In a match with many positives, Japanese import Takeshi put in a brilliant performance alongside the skipper in central midfield, bossing the opposition around with his calming influence. He's putting in a strong claim for a midfield berth in the absence of Javier MaShaunrano and Wayne Booney. Ilhan Manqif also performed well in the left-wing role at the start of the match, and RonAlidinho was as usual, found wanting in the fitness department on the opposite flank. We believe that this is due to staying at home too much and not enjoying the nightlife as much as compatriot Ronaldinho. We still caught glimpses of his brilliance, and if not for the crossbar, he would've made it 2-0 with a curling effort. When asked about his lack of fitness or perceived laziness, RonAlidinho flashed his toothy grin and winked, "Make the ball work, not your team-mates." Go figure.

The 5-man defence prominently featured Rio FerdinEng as a calm sweeper who gave stand-in goalkeeper SissyNeo nothing to do except for 2 simple saves, one with his face.
Outside-standing goalkeeping. The opposing team was seen breathing a sigh of relief that their ball wasn't punctured by the man's "Big Tooth". Jamie Farrellgher and Yongberto Carlos played in front of Eng and kept possession for the team well. They were flanked by Alvaro WeiJialoa and Habib Bhai-ye who helped keep the defence water-tight. Habib Bhai-ye revealed in a post-match interview that he doesn't like to head the ball, which was obvious throughout the course of the match. How he managed to play for MJC 'A' Div Champions still perplexes me.

The 2 Huda brothers took turns to lead the attack, and performed exceptionally well. The awareness and off-the-ball running created plenty of shooting opportunities for their team-mates. Hafizo Quagliarella still needs more match practice as his touches continually failed him. His heading prowess however, were as sharp as ever, evident when he was temporarily covering the RWB position.

Fan-Watch:
Presence of injured players David Woo Wee-Becks and Daniel Alves in the stands provided a boost for the team. NaNizar also came with Adibayor later on after his commitments to his other team.

X-S FC in a League competition?: Managers Yarsene and Rafarrell kept mum when asked about the team aspirations. It could be a possibility, pending further discussions with Jose Booninho and Derek O'Leary. Asst Manager Nani could not be reached for comments.

Sponsorship on the cards?: Yarsene Wenger's uncle is possibly keen to sponsor the club, pending certain obligations n commitments. It is now all up to the players and Board of Directors to impress.

Goalkeeping Dilemma?: X-S FC is on the lookout for another goalkeeper, due to the current shortage that they are facing, if a league challenge is on the cards. To keep SissyNeo as goalkeeper is as good as suicide on a raffia string.

Another 2 week absence of skipper Cesc Fabreyas begins tonight as his flight leaves for an island 4 hours away, together with manager Yarsene Wenger. They are away on a training stint and scouting for Oriental beauties to join the boardroom staff. The crux of the matter is whether the team will crumble again in his absence, which he really doubts. Vice-captain Farrellgher has been entrusted to keep our players' tempers in check and ensure the team keeps their winning ways. Derek O'Leary will be encouraged to try his funny tactics n formation in Wenger's absence, so as to find the best possible attacking formation for the team.

*photos will be uploaded once David Woo WeeBecks' photographers send them over.*

Will we see a repeat of a Vasantham trashing tommorrow?

X-S FC will be squaring up against their former on-loan goalkeeper Ram's team in our Super Sunday clash. Expected to be playing without various key players, can X-S defy the odds and rise to the occassion? Will donning the new team kit add vibrancy and fluidity to their play? Will the presence of new Asst Manager be a boon or bane to the team? Will their familiarity of Deyi grounds help them secure a win?

Will I stop asking these stupid questions?

I will and all these questions will be answered hopefully after a clean and fair 90 minutes of the beautiful game. Be there at 11am, or be a bastard.

Thursday, April 03, 2008

The fans are anxious, the media is watching, and the players excited. All will hold their breath in anticipation of the launch of the new kit. When asked to drop hints about the new colours, Rafarrell Benitez grinned happily and only had this to say, " peel banana, peel peel banana."
