X-S FC continued their marvellous run as Shahrul scored a brace while setting up another two goals to help his team trashed The Fathers 7-0 early this morning. Even with Nizar unavailable, the X-S FC showed guts and skills to overcome their opponents in a fashionable manner.
Right from the kick-off, the lads, led by inspirational captain, Yasin were on the assault and as early as the eight minute, the flood gate was open courtesy of Shahrul. Picking the ball from Boon Leng, he lobbed the keeper from the left hand side and placed the ball on the top right hand corner, to give X-S FC a perfect start to the game. The match began to slow down as X-S FC controlled the match in every department. But drama soon unfold at the half hour mark when replacement striker, Jia Hui hobbled off the field after he was on the receiving end of a reckless challenge by the opponent. Vincent was brought in and the attack looked sharper after that. Just before half time, Wee Meng double the scoreline, in a rather controversial manner as the defenders were appealing offside. But the goal stands.
At half time, few changes were made. Shahrul was pushed to the right hand side of midfield with Derek slotting in at right back and Yong Liang on the left hand side of defence. The changes proved critical as X-S FC began to show their dominance in the game. Shahrul once again open the floodgate in the second half, this time shooting from outside of the penalty area from the right and gave the keeper no chance. He was time and again in the thick of action as his crosses were troubling the keeper. That carved an opening for Yasin as he stride to look for goal. Shahrul lifted the ball to the penalty aread beyond the reach of the defenders and with only the goalie to beat, Yasin lobbed the keeper. But somehow a defender rushed into the box and instead of clearing it out, he tucked it in into his own net. 4-0
It was soon 5-0 as Shahrul's cross was again fumbled by the keeper and he pushed it into his own net. By then, X-S FC had taken foot of the paddle and were dictating the action of the game. Wei Liang was rarely tested, and when he was, he showed his agility by pouncing on the ball. The defenders were absorbing all the pressure by then and the match looked to end at that scoreline. But Boon Leng and Khairul had other things in mind. First, Boon Leng placed a shot at the bottom right hand corner of the post, giving the keeper no chance. To add salt to the wound, Khairul burst from the halfway line, ran past the whole pack defence before whacking the ball in the net to make it 7-0 during injury time. A truly goals galore match.
