Time To Up The Ante

Ok guys, league is commencing soon and we're gonna need everyones cooperation to make things happen. Playing badly and owing people money (looks at Singh) will not help. Having phone sex with the ESPZEN girl who keeps calling me, will.

On the other hand, we should start concentrating on the football every weekend and how to improve further. Time to get into some serious business. Bribing referees is not an option, since we don't even have enough cash to pay for the league matches itself.

Daniel Alves, our treasurer, will start hounding people for money very soon as deadline for the first 4 matches (SGD 600) is this Wednesday (250608).

Someone else is also needed to make us an away kit. Any volunteers? You can run, but I run faster. =)

Match this weekend at NUS. I seriously hope it goes through or somebody's gonna get hurt real bad.

Happy Birthday to Emmanuel Aminbayor, who won't be joining us as he'll be in Sentosa.

Happy Belated Birthday to Yeong Kai Ru, our former waterboy (cos I'm not even sure he could be considered a player. HAHA). Here's a tribute.

Mavericks send X-S Crashing.. Or So They Thought

X-S drew 2-2 with the Mavericks despite a really scrappy and poor performance in the first half. All the goals came in the second period, after the bell rang at Sembawang Sec and class 2/5 were having Art Lessons with Avram Grant's sister, Ms Tirza Grant. She had no doubt taught the boys a good lesson in fighting spirit as X-S equalised twice to level the score.

X-S defenders claimed that both goals conceded were offsides, but too bad for them, there were no linesmen. As ESPZEN beckons, performances like today cannot afford to be repeated. The entire team played poorly, and everyone had a bad moment although some had good moments but eventually it's all bad to be fair to those who had no good moments, so we declare the match as a bad moment. Its suspected that X-S players were suffering from "nonsundaychikungunyamatch" disease, affecting their performances as long as they play on any day other than Sunday. Let's hope this situation does not arise again.

However, it must be noted that the team was performing at a level unknown to the fans of late, so poor that it should be erased from the memory of humankind. Yong Tevez climbed to the Top Scorers Chart with a well-taken header from 0.000000001247mm out thanks to good attacking play from fullback Wei Jia, which culminated into a pinpoint cross. Colin-Hazim Richards scored his second in 2 matches in a goal-mouth scramble after a DELISH inswinging corner from Fabreyas. It must be noted that that was the only inswinging corner he got in the entire game. Who knows what the scoreline would be had there been more inswingers.

Which leads to the balance problem that X-S faces. We only have a left-footer in the team, who is effectively playing for another team. The balance is lacking. The yin and yang. Ping and pong. The left and right.

Eng and his golden voice has to be trained, as he needs to be audible if he's going to command any respect, or anyone for that matter. Booney on the other hand has to start shooting from outside the penalty box or, well, nothing. Derek and Bhai should get married for smiling so much in the game, as if they were the happiest people to grace the pitch on Sembawang Sec.

We expect Ronalidinho to have been beaten to pulp by SmackDat FC after running home, despite saying he'll play for them. The PFA has also announced Bacanury Sagna's removal from the Team Of The Year after his record number of foul-throws. At least one in every match he's played in.

With all due respect to Mavericks, X-S should have been home and dry had Tevez chosen to shoot at the gaping goal instead of the kids who were screaming "referee kayu!" on the 99th floor of the block beside Sembawang Sec, OR had Fabreyas' long-range effort found the back of the net instead of planting a SMACKDOWN on the crossbar.

X-S is going to release 2 new songs for the fans, the first being "We All Dream of A Team Of Farrellghers" which shall be sung to the tune of the Beatles' "We All Live In A Yellow Submarine" and the second is "Referee Kayu" which shall be sung to the tune of Malay Pop Hit, "Gadis Ayu".

Til' the next match, adieu.

ok, i've being assigned to do the match report. i will give it a go, i will try my best, i try not to let anyone down, especially my captain fabreyaz, who has given me support and encouragement to do the report. and also to my fella mahjong kah-kis, fans fav wee beckham, vice captain farrell terry, and our manager derek o'leary, for losing money to me, which has helped to make my day better, which in turn enabled me to willingly do the match report.

anyway as for the mahjong game, we took nearly 3hrs+ to complete it. wee beckham was dong feng aka east wind followed by derek me and lastly farrell bei feng. farrell terry had no luck throughout the game at all, winning 3 times only. but his last win was a 5tai zhi muo, which allowed him to breathe easier (despite the amount of tar and nicotine in his windpipe).

as for manager derek o'leary, he had a winning streak of 6 consecutive games, which frustrated the cig-tasty farrell to the point that their friendship was nearly at an end. ultimately, both o'leary and terry will end up losing 13 bucks each. wayne booney gleefully collected the 25 bucks, leaving a dollar as tip for wee beckham.

but come to think of it, i just realised i was doing a mahjong game report, not the soccer game. haha, no, not because we are boring opponents to submission with another 1-0 win, which defeats the purpose of a match report. hey, we won 5-1. that's 5 goals in a match, more than the total number of goals we scored for the past 4 matches.

i won't go into details about the goals. yong tevez scored the first, ilhan manqif followed up with a brace, and manqif's fellow turkish mate, colin hazim-richards. the fourth goal, THE FOURTH GOAL, was scored by wayne booney. a delightful freekick taken by 2nd half goalie antti nieqib finds booney one-on-one with the opposing goalie. at that moment, booney was caught in two minds whether to lob the goalie, or round the keeper. either way he would have scored, so he chose to take the harder and challenging route, successfully. his shot attempt was meant to hit the post before going in, but missed by an inch or two only. still a goal is a goal, wayne booney was praised by captain fabreyaz, as he likened booney to the brazilian maestro klakar.

the goal took booney back to the top of the goal scoring chart, albeit sharing the spot with yong tevez (that's teamwork for u). and did i mention this? x-s boasts goalscorers from almost every player.

lastly, special mention to our absentees today. wee beckham will be fined 7 or 23 quid for refusing to turn up for the match. no wonder farrell terry mentioned wee beckham will never get a chance to play at centre half as long as terry is present. strong words.

and presenting to u our quote of the day, by captain fabreyaz - all 11 players got 2 legs 2 hands 2 eyes 2 balls 1 cock (size doesn't matter). why scared?!

ok.
since someone complain dat he is tired of always updating the blog.
i will try.
my first ever entry.
-_-
today the x-s fc won with an amazing scoreline.
well, u guess it right. 10-0.
wait typo error, 1-0.
again.
courtesy of a lob.
by yong tevez.
it was a massive perfomance from the happy harpies
who were up against the HTA team.
of prison and police and scdf
and all the home team watever they are made of.
kudos to singapore.
we started off well, with our regulars starters,
mainly the star attraction goalkeeper,
grederek coupet,
back from international duty from france,
to yet cap another marvellous clean sheet.
albeit one ingenious moment.
where he picked up a backpass with his hands.
after he stopped the ball with his feet.
and yeah farrellegher,
we know u cleared the indirect freekick.
kudos to that.
1st half went strong, where we dominated,
with centre half, ferdineng and farrellgher,
fullbacks bacanury sagna and yong berto carlos.
in midfield, mashaunarano and fabreyaz,
the flanks were wei jia (damn we need to give this guy a nick name)
and wayne booney, who missed an open goal,
but we still love him.
coming back from a long absence,
was yong tevez strike partner,
khairulnaldo.
abt the goal,
the goal came i forgot how.
alamak. sorry.
no camera replay.
thats what boon always says when he miss something.
second half started with the subs coming out with full force.
shahraul the boyan at rightback,
hafizo the botak at leftback,
with old timers kim chi and nizarrazu back in the side.
ronalidinho was at right mid.
and the rest was the same.
2nd half was the same excitement as the first,
with a whole lot of chances at both ends.
nizarazu had a wonderful shot saved,
by the best player in the opposition,
the gk fabian barHTAez.
the best highlight besides the grederek coupet errror
was our capt, fabreyaz,
wanting to have a copy of our absentee jasdeep,
who had a car crash, which eng said,
"wah finally".
good luck paying $1300.
the x-s will always support you,
emotionally.
talking abt the capt, he tried a cheeky penalty,
won by alamak i also forgot who.
yeah, too cheeky dat the penalty miss.
i want to explain how he kick i also dunno how to type and say.
like he over kick his right leg to kick with his left leg,
but the right leg was actually a fake,
then the left leg hit the ball.
geddit?
ah anyways, the x-s are on the winning streak.
maybe bcoz of the good luck charm ladies on the bench today.
why cant we have a lot of farrells on our team?
oh wellss...
this is my first entry.
well guess who wrote ah.

Happy Harpies Clinch Victory.

The Happy Harpies, as X-S FC is also known as from now, beat Team ZhongHua Sec with an amazing scoreline of 1-0. The fans are getting more and more excited as all their bets are winning. As long as X-S maintains form, the bookies will lose all bets on X-S winning by any other scoreline. Today's goal was scored by on-loan striker Amir Shearer, who has only one thing on his mind, beating the defender(s) and going for goal. He showed his instincts early on when he latched onto an excellent ball by Fabreyas, but his attempt to chip the on-rushing gk went just wide of the post. X-S started with alot of respect for the opposition in a 5-5-0 formation ala Roma. It was dour until they switched to 4-4-2 midway through the first half and it was one-way street from there. Amir was predatory in the box and squeezed his shot in the near post.

TZ was only relying on midfielder No. 10, Gelven (or sth like that), to pull the strings and basically win the match for them. However, Taka was having none of it as he went berserk throughout. He was unstoppable, unfortunately, so were his passes and his shot from kick-off.

Jasdeep's free-kick taking credentials were officially burnt as the referee couldn't help but laugh at his terrible attempt at a shot. However, his appearance at left back was neat and he made some brilliant long passes that created attacking opportunities. Eng was in imperious form alongside either Amin or Farrell who was still drunk. All 3 colossal figures will have to stay on-top of their game if X-S is to challenge for any honours this coming season. The defence was anything but bad today. Derek has to improve his eye-leg and eye-head co-ordination though, despite putting a good show at right back. Nuri came to support only. Wayne Booney is excelling in his role as Beverages and Public Transport OIC, guiding Fabreyas to the pitch and then bringing 100 Plus for the team. Kudos to Asst Mgr Nani also for the drinks. Now please hand-0ver the names and numbers of chicks you know to Rio FerdinEng, as he is our Party and Call-Girls OIC.

The Boyan made a rare appearance today, but still couldn't add to his goal tally. RonAlidinho as usual is another Ryan Babel, performing only when coming off the bench. He tested the goalkeeper with 2 stinging shots in the 2nd half but barely figured in the first despite starting. Xian Baros is doing well, and so is his brother. Daniel Alves' return from injury is a major boost, and we cannot wait for him to return to full match fitness. Goalkeeper Lee W.Liang was tremendous when going for one-on-ones with the strikers, particularly the one he slid in, but he was barely tested from long-range efforts. His dropkick accuracy and distance can be better though. Wei Jia is slowly blending in with the team's style of play, and continues to improve. He has a fierce shot, which he should utilise more. Taka's tendency to overhit his through balls can be a pain, but his work-rate and combativeness is essential to add bite in midfield. There was enough cover in the absence of MaShaunrano, Ilhan Manqif, Naqib van der Zar and many others including the Hud Brothers.

League Registration shall commence.

Harpies' Happy Moment: Booney, Bhai-ye and Shah-Raul fooling around in The Wall with the referee as the opponents were about to take the free-kick.

Moan of the Match: Bhai-ye's awful free-kick which the referee scoffed at. The stadium erupted in laughter.

Next Match is tentatively on 1 June. Details will be announced in the FB Group and the chatterbox.
